Cedar Dragon Studios grew from a simple fascination with the beauty and character of natural wood. By laser engraving durable cedar, we create durable, unique art for outdoor or indoor display.  

Working from our studio in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California, we create laser-engraved artwork that celebrates the connection between nature, imagination, and craftsmanship.

Much of the cedar we use comes from our own property. Every piece has its own personality—its grain, knots, shape, and texture influence what it ultimately becomes. Rather than imposing a design onto the wood, we try to listen to what it suggests. Sometimes that leads to a quiet mountain landscape, sometimes a curious fox, and occasionally something wonderfully strange.

While cedar remains our favorite material, we also work with walnut, cherry, maple, sycamore and other fine woods, each offering its own distinctive qualities.

Our artistic process combines modern laser technology with hands-on craftsmanship, creating artwork that feels both contemporary and rooted in nature.

What we love most is taking something ordinary, seeing the possibility within it, and transforming it into something that makes people stop, look closer, and discover beauty in the world.
